Cold Threat by Nancy Mehl continues the series of River Ryland and Tony St. Clair (you could probably read this as a standalone, but I think you might miss some things). River and Tony have started their private investigation firm and are called to create a profile for a serial arsonist who only strikes when it’s snowing. This is a race-against-the-clock story as River and Tony get closer to the killer…and each other.

I have loved this series from the start. Nancy Mehl is great at building tension and suspense. This story had a lot more introspection for the characters as River deals with her past trauma, knowing she’s still in the crosshairs of a serial killer. Not to mention there’s the growing attraction for her co-worker Tony. And Tony struggles with his feelings and the need to keep River safe. Plus, there’s the whole serial killer on the loose, and the two must figure out who is behind the brutal attacks before he strikes again.

This is a great addition to the series and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Cold Pursuit by Nancy Mehl is a great kick off novel for a new series – Ryland and St. Clair. Nancy does creepy serial killer stories so well. Readers will be sucked into the mind of a killer.

River Ryland and Tony Sinclair are private investigators and former BAU analysts with the FBI. They are each dealing with the fallout of an assignment gone bad, but their first case brings them right back into the world of behavioral analysis when they are asked to look into the cold case of a missing teen.

I love the suspense and intensity of this story. The romance is minimal (I assume will develop over the course of the series) but this story deals with River and Tony working to heal from their past traumas. River has to manage her mother’s Alzheimer’s as well as her new life as a PI. She and Tony also discover that the killer behind bars, the one that assaulted them, might not have worked alone.

I highly recommend Cold Pursuit. The book moves a little deeper than most as far as the characters coming to terms with their pasts and with their spiritual journeys. But the intensity of having a serial killer on the loose makes this a nail-biter. Much of the point of view is in the killer’s mind, making the story more creepy and intriguing

Free Fall by Nancy Mehl continues the story of Alex Donovan and Logan Hart, agents with the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). This time they face insurmountable danger as they discover multiple women have gone missing and they all have the same look. A killer is on the hunt, looking for a specific woman and abducting anyone that looks like her. But while Alex gets closer to finding the taken women, Logan deals with serious life-altering issues of his own, not to mention his growing feelings for Alex.

I’ve been a fan of the entire Quantico Files series. Free Fall brings danger and suspense on every page. But this story has more of a spiritual arc to it. Both Alex and Logan face their biggest fears and the story deals with more personal issues as well as solving a heinous crime. If you like stories where the characters grow and change by the end, definitely check out Free Fall. I recommend the entire series.

Nancy Mehl’s Dead Fall is over-the-top intense! First of all, Kaely Quinn is back! If you haven’t read the Kaely Quinn Profiler series, it’s one of my favorites. But Dead Fall follows the FBI Behavioral Analyst Unit team. A killer is on the loose, targeting members of the BAU, and Alex Donovan and Logan Hart team up with Kaely to create a profile of the serial killer. But they can’t seem to get a read on their UNSUB, who continues to go after the team.

I loved this story! So many twists and turns. I couldn’t figure out who the killer was. Nancy weaves an incredible spiritual message as she dishes out the suspense. Readers get to know more of Alex’s story and of course there’s the budding romance between her and Logan. I highly recommend this novel to suspense fans, but caution that it is intense in some scenes.

Overall Rating:
5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)

Suspense Rating:
5 stars (Non-stop edge-of-your-seat suspense from start to finish)

Night Fall by Nancy Mehl is an intense story. Alex Donovan works for the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. Her current case is to profile a serial killer, whose cult-like delusions make him dangerous. He’s got a deadly virus in his possession and his ritualistic killings are ramping up. The case brings Alex back to her childhood, where she was raised with the very same ideology of the cult. Logan Hart is her partner, and the two team up to stop the killer. But Alex has to battle with her own demons to get inside the killer’s head.

This book is not for the faint of heart. There are several points of view, including the killer’s. Alex deals with her past which was quite disturbing. Not much in the way of romance, so hopefully there will be more between Alex and Logan in book two. The story is fast-paced and a fantastic suspense novel. Be sure to check it out!

For fans of thrillers, FBI and crazy plot twists

What an incredible roller coaster ride! Dead End gives readers so many thrilling plot twists as Kaely Quinn finds herself in the worst possible predicament: facing her serial killer father in an attempt to locate a copy cat killer. Of course, Kaely is one of the most complex characters ever written. She deals with her emotions in the most unusual ways, but this case sends all of her senses spiraling out of control.

While the plot is complex, the characters are even more intricate. Kaely is complicated and at times dark, yet struggles with the fact that she’s human just like everyone else. She never dealt with her past and can’t justify her father’s horrific actions with the fact that he’s still her father. And Noah has waited for Kaely for three books now and in Dead End he watches her unravel as she tries to navigate her inner and outer worlds. But how can he help someone who won’t accept any help?

I’m a fan of this entire series. I recommend reading these in order so definitely start with Mind Games (it’s on Kindle Unlimited). But Dead End brings so much drama and tension with some surprising plot twists.  I highly recommend this series to any suspense fans – the plot twists and unique characters make this one of my all time favorites!

Overall: 5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)
