If you love a good reunion story combined with nonstop suspense, look no further than Rodeo Witness Protector. Annie Davis moves back to town with her four-year-old. Her daughter Lily witnesses a brutal crime and won’t speak of it, leaving Annie to fend off attacks against the child. Enter Deputy Daniel Sinclair–he’d thought he’d lost Annie when she left town with her family when they were kids. Now Annie is back and in danger, and Lily might have seen the killer.

This book has all of the plot twists and action you’d expect from one of Sami A. Abram’s books. But the story also has heart. Annie is trying to move on after rejection and Daniel can’t move past his own past. Of course, tension mounts and it’s not just from bad guys chasing the hero and heroine. Annie and Daniel reunite but have to reconcile their own hearts in order to move forward together. I love stories where characters grown and change. Through lies, betrayal, and devastating events in the past, the couple must learn how to trust each other. Easier said than done!

The audio book was a great addition to the story. I tend to prefer audio and the narrator made the story even more fast-paced and action-oriented.

It’s another installment in the Colorado K-9 Unit series. Are you a fan of second chance/reunion stories? If so, Fugitive Manhunt is for you! K-9 officer Lizzie Reynolds is threatened, and she teams up with US Marshal Walker McCane – her long lost high school crush. Both of their names show up on a hit list, and they have to stay one step ahead of a killer.

This book has it all – action, suspense, fugitives, second chance at love, dogs, and US Marshals. The story is exciting, the characters are memorable, the villain is unhinged, and of course, did I mention working dogs? And a golden retriever  – my favorite! Be sure to check out Fugitive Manhunt to add some intensity to your summer reading list!

I listened to the audio version for this story and loved the narrator. I recommend the audiobook if you are a fan of audio.

Jodie Bailey’s Protecting the Baby is exciting from start to finish. Eli Blackwood steps in to help his neighbor, Carly Mayor. She became a new mom when her friends died under mysterious circumstances. Now someone is claiming to be the legal guardian of the infant. Eli and Carly go on the run to protect Ariel from being taken–by force. Men with guns are hunting them down and Eli pulls out all the stops to keep Carly and Ariel safe.  And of course, Carly and the baby are just what Eli needs to overcome his own broken heart. Forced proximity for the win!

This is book four in the Colorado K-9 Unit series and I love that it features working dogs! But I enjoyed this fast-paced story. I haven’t read much from Jodie Bailey, but she’s becoming one of my new favorites for action and suspense.  The characters had depth and of course, I love run-for-your-life danger and suspense. I listened to this one on audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life. Definitely check this story out. It’s the kind of series you can read out of order and be ok, but I recommend the whole series.

I love a story where the hero and heroine are running for their lives on page one. Especially if they are total strangers. Survival in the Mountains starts off with Bethany waking up in a strange house and no memory of how she got there. Joshua McGregor rescued Bethany from a burning car. Soon he realizes someone is out to get her and they run. Her memories slowly return, and Joshua realizes they are in the thick of a major coverup. But he has secrets of his own to protect, not to mention a job he might lose if he helps Bethany get her life back.

This story is fast paced and chock full of suspense. Carrie Stuart Parks has a great way of capturing your imagination and taking it on a wild ride. I love the mystery as well. The crime is complicated but the hero and heroine are fierce and determined. I highly recommend you move Survival on the Mountains up on your summer reading list!

Scent of Peril by Darlene L. Turner gives readers relentless danger as the story starts with a child abduction. Constable Taylor Grand jumps into action to find a missing and endangered child. The father turns out to be Wyatt Hoyt, her ex boyfriend. His son is in danger, and she steps up to help with the investigation. But Wyatt and his son are targets of an underground weapons smuggling ring and the bad guys keep coming.

I loved the non-stop action and danger. These bad guys are relentless, and Wyatt and Taylor put their personal feelings aside to keep Wyatt’s son Levi safe. But the forced proximity dredges up old feelings, and Taylor starts to think she made a mistake by leaving Wyatt years ago. The story is fast-paced but has depth and heart. If you love run-for-your life danger, you will want to get your copy of Scent of Peril. Darlene Turner is a master at writing romantic suspense -it’s the perfect mix of suspense and romance.

Targeted in the Swamp by Kerry Johnson is my new favorite book! I showed up for the suspense and stayed for the heart-warming characters.

Laurel Bell’s witness protection cover is blown. Police sergeant Heath Calhoun steps in to protect her, and they go on the run trying to escape the bad guys who will stop at nothing to kill Laurel.

I love the fast-paced energy of this book. Another trope I love is when two characters just meet and are thrown together to outrun danger and stay alive – what is that even called? Love at first sight? A hero protector?  But throw in a raging river, caves, and relentless bad guys and I’m 100% hooked.

The entire Forest Ranger Rescue series is only of my favorites. Be sure to check out the previous books.

I loved this romantic suspense adventure from Katy Lee. Danger lurks right from the start – Hunter Shelton and his search and rescue bloodhound arrive at a crime scene only to discover that his ex-fiancé has been murdered. But things get worse when he realizes her young daughter is missing – and it might be his daughter. He calls in DEA Agent Marlee Price to help him track the child down. But Marlee has her own problems because a drug dealer has put a hit out on her.

This book is chock full of action, suspense, and danger. But the characters are incredibly likable. Marlee is strong but needs to face her past. Hunter still regrets so many of his past choices as well. I love the second chances romance theme along with the spiritual message of forgiveness and letting go.

The narration for the audiobook was amazing! I think the narrator did a great job of bringing the characters to life.

Deadly Rodeo Threat by Sami A. Abrams is an explosive, run from danger story. Isabelle Sinclair is determined to find her missing friend, and so is Logan Russell. He’s back in town to track down his missing twin. But when Isabelle is attacked, he steps in to help her investigate.

I love this story! From the danger to the romance, this story has everything I love. Working dogs, action, a great spiritual message, danger, second chance at romance, military men, a woman sheriff, and a serial killer on the loose. The story is fast-paced and digs deep. You’ll root for Isabelle and the crime is super creepy! If you like a fast moving story that has a strong message of hope and redemption, look no further than Deadly Rodeo Threat.

Hunting a Killer by Sarah Varland gives readers so many plot twists along with working dogs, amnesia, and second chances at love. Finn McDaniel faces off with a killer, but sustains a head injury. He knows who the serial killer is, but he can’t remember. Jordyn Williams discovers the injured Finn and works to help solve the case with her cadaver dog, Cipher.

I love a good amnesia story! And Finn and Jordyn have a history which makes their encounter full of drama and emotions. They get a second chance as they team up to hunt the killer. The same killer that took Finn’s sister’s life years ago. The story is fast-paced but with heart. The audio narrator did a great job of keeping me engaged. And of course, I love Cipher! If you like drama, action, and a good “who dunnit” storyline, be sure to grab your copy of Hunting a Killer.

Scent of Sabotage by Dana Mentink gives readers one thrilling ride. Beth Wolfe never dreamed she’d meet the son she put up for adoption when she was a teenager, but nothing could prepare for her ex to show up saying their son is in trouble. Together they get trapped in a creepy amusement park, trying to escape killers while they try to rescue their son and his finance’.

I love this second chance/reunion trope. Usually stories don’t center around older main characters, but Beth’s kids are all grown and she reconnects with her first love, Jack St. James. I also love the interesting reunion between Beth and her son – not your typical reuniting story. The action and suspense were fantastic. I listened to the audio version and the narrator did a decent job of bringing the characters to life. Definitely a novel you’ll want to binge read from start to finish.

I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
