Out for Blood by Ryan Steck gives readers a non-stop, run-for-your-life thrill ride. Matthew Redd kisses his family goodbye and runs for his life when he realizes he’s the target of a militant group. He faces bad guys, avalanches, and all kinds of danger. But despite being outgunned and outnumbered, Redd faces the danger head on.

I love a good action hero, and Matthew Redd is the best. He’s unstoppable, smart, and likeable. The story reminds me a bit of the Jack Reacher series, with the lone hero facing insurmountable odds. But in Out for Blood, Redd realizes he needs people in his life to survive. If you love action stories filled with conspiracies, explosions, and high tech weapons, you’ll love Out for Blood.

Havoc by Ronie Kendig gives readers more military working dogs! If you loved the original A Breed Apart series, you’ll love this spin-off. Ronie’s military thrillers are my favorite, and having working dogs just adds to the adventure. In Havoc, readers meet Crew Gatlin and his trained Belgium Malinois, Havoc. After being injured in combat, Crew and Havoc take a job in the movie biz, where he meets stunt double Vienna Foxcroft. But things go from bad to worse when the movie crew is attacked in a foreign country.

There is never a dull moment in Havoc. I love the suspense and twists all the way until the end. I love the chemistry between Crew and Vienna. She’s tough as nails, but Crew manages to get past her self-imposed armor (not that he doesn’t have any baggage of his own). And naturally, Havoc steals the show.

This is a great start to the new series! I can’t wait for Chaos, which introduces a new up and coming author Steffani Webb.

Willow Ronie KendigWillow by Ronie Kendig brings fans more Metcalfe action and suspense. The story focuses on Willow, who is working overseas as an aftercare specialist for people who are rescued from human trafficking. But she gets kidnapped by traffickers. Chiji Okorie (remember him from the Tox Files?)  is undercover posing as a trafficker to stop the ring. But his new mission becomes protecting Willow from unspeakable horrors of being trafficked.

This story is intense. Any readers with sensitivity to this subject may want to steer clear. Ronie doesn’t sugar-coat the horrors of human trafficking, and some scenes are definitely uncomfortable to read. But the story is laced with hope, and Willow’s brothers step in to help find her, including the long-lost Range. There’s even a bit of romance in the midst of tragic circumstances. I always enjoy Ronie’s non-stop action, and her writing always pulls readers in for an exciting adventure. I’m looking forward to Range’s story next!

Last Taste of Freedom by Lisa Phillips is one non-stop action ride. Nora Gladstone has lived under her father’s control and when she starts to dig into his business dealings, she realizes her whole life might be based on a lie. Zander O’Connell and his team work for the Department of Clandestine services, but realize that the director has some shady dealings. The team rescues Nora and she teams up with them to stop her father before he destroys them one by one.

I love the action and suspense! Just when I think I’ve figured things out, Lisa throws some unusual twist and I’m thrown in a completely new direction. Definitely my favorite author for Kindle Unlimited recommendations, and this new series is going to be high on my must-read recommendation list! Now, on to binge-read book two.

For fans of intense suspense, action, and matters of national security

The Beirut Protocol drops readers right into the action from the start and things just get more intense from there. Marcus Ryker is back, and he and his team get kidnapped on the border of Hezbollah territory. Marcus is a wanted man, and Hezbollah isn’t known for treating their hostages well. The problem is that no one can find the taken team. It’s only a matter of time before Ryker’s true identity is discovered (not to mention the giant bounty on his head.)

The story is basically a giant man hunt for Ryker and his team.  Joel C. Rosenberg knows how to build suspense. I had no idea how Ryker would make it out of this situation alive. Marcus Ryker is hands down one of the best action heroes. He seems unstoppable despite the never-ending life or death situation he faces in the name of national security.

The Beirut Protocol is my new favorite in the series, but the entire line-up is fantastic for fans of non-stop action. I suggest that readers start with book one first (The Kremlin Conspiracy), but you probably could jump in with this one and not be totally lost.

For fans of intense suspense, military, and plot twists

Active Defense had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole novel. From start to finish, I had no idea who the bad guys were or why anyone would want to kill surgeon Heather Fontaine. Yet the attacks continue and Travis Walker steps in to help keep her secure.

I love the plot twists in this story! So much action and suspense kept me flipping pages. But there were some great relationship moments too. Heather’s rough childhood made her shut out others, giving way to her self-reliant nature. She struggles to ask for help, but changes her tune as her friends intervene to save her life. Travis sticks by her side and she begins to realize that she needs others.

The ending was intense and unexpected. I definitely recommend this to all of the suspense-loving, adrenaline-junkies out there looking for a fast-paced and exciting novel. Check out the latest in the Danger Never Sleeps series. I am so excited that there is a fourth novel coming out next August!

For Fans of Intense Suspense and Action

Soul Raging is nail-biting suspense right down to the last page.  This is the conclusion of the series, and you’ll want to read Storm Rising and Kings Falling first.

This story picks up from Kings Falling, where Leif Metcalf seems to have turned to the dark side. Soul Raging continues to follow Leif as he struggles to fill in the missing gaps of his past, not to mention that his future is prophesized in the mysterious Book of Wars – and it’s pretty bleak. Leif leaves his team rather than put them in jeopardy.

The best part of this whole series has always been the characters. Readers will get a glimpse into Mercy’s past. Iskra is always a mysterious character and this novel much of her past comes back to haunt her. Canyon Metcalf makes an appearance to help save his brother. Cell always adds his whit to any situation.  But the biggest plot twists come from trying to figure out who to trust. It tears the team (and the reader) apart.  Could Leif really turn towards evil? Did Dru Illiescu set up Leif this whole time? Loyalties are tested and of course, no Ronie Kendig novel is complete without an epic showdown in the end!

If you started the series, you’ll be in for a thrilling and satisfying conclusion. If you haven’t started the series, you should get book one and be prepared to read all the way through until the very end. You won’t want to put it down.

Overall: 5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)
Suspense: 5 stars (Non-stop edge-of-your-seat suspense from start to finish)

For fans of action, suspense, and danger

Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason should come with a warning label. “You might lose sleep when you can’t put this book down.” This story had me hooked from start to finish, with intriguing characters and a complex, action-packed plot.

This is book two in the Danger Never Sleeps series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone. Sarah Denning is a military journalist who gets discharged and sent state side after being injured during a kidnapping. Gavin Black is put in charge of her security, even though she doesn’t know her overbearing father arranged it. But Sarah stumbles headfirst into danger through a variety of circumstances. She meets a strange and disturbed woman in the hospital who disappears. Her brother commits suicide but the facts surrounding it don’t add up. And then several attempts are made on her life. It all adds up to one intense and suspense-filled novel.

Sarah’s strength shines through the story as she fights for justice for her brother and others. The plot twists are endless and the bad guys are pure evil. Gavin realizes his place isn’t “knight in shining armor” and wrestles with how to protect Sarah but give her the freedom she craves.

All suspense fans should move Acceptable Risk to the number one spot on your TBR lists. You won’t want to miss this.

For fans of military dramas, intense action, and conspiracy theories

Kings Falling by Ronie Kendig gives readers more of everything we’ve come to expect from her novels. More death-defying action, more amazing characters like Leif Metcalf and Iskra Torodova, more danger, and much more inner conflict. But note that this novel ends on a total cliff-hanger which will leave readers wanting…well, MORE!

This is the second novel in the series, so readers need to pick up Storm Rising first to keep up. The story picks up with Leif, Iskra, and the rest of the team, now dubbed Reaper, as they try to stop assassination attempts that were predicted in the Book of Wars, not to mention that the book is missing. Leif struggles with his relationship with Iskra but also the thought that men are being “activated” and turned into mass murderers. Oh, and throw in a secret organization called the Armageddon Coalition which wants total world domination and you’ve got one action-packed, thrilling novel.

If you loved Storm Rising, you’ll not be able to put down Kings Falling. I used to think I had a crush on Tox (from the prior series) but now it’s totally Cell. He’s kind of the behind the scenes guy trying to keep everything straight, while Leif and others on the team starts to come unglued. I don’t want to reveal too much, but this is a fantastic adventure filled with drama, action, suspense, and intrigue.  Clearly, I can’t wait for the next one. Because the ending of this one is leaving me hanging in mid air trying to catch my breath!

For fans of military, suspense and action

Collateral Damage brings action and suspense in the form of a military drama. Brooke Adams is an Army psychologist who is discharged after a bombing. Asher James is seeking answers after his friend dies in the same explosion while accused of treason. Meanwhile, someone is out to get Brooke.

The story is intriguing and will suck you in from the start. Lots of chase scenes and mystery keep the story line fast-paced, while the characters are strong and relatable. Brooke is a counselor who struggles with her own form of PTSD after the explosion and I enjoyed watching her discover her own inner strength but also her ability to put aside her own issues to help others. The romance didn’t distract from the story, and seemed more realistic/not staged than other novels in the “romantic suspense” category.

If you are a fan of military stories as well as action, look no further than Collateral Damage. I’m a fan of Lynette Eason, and this is a great start to a new series.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars (I loved it)
Suspense Rating: 5 Stars (lots of action and intrigue)
