Trail of Mountain Secrets by Darlene L. Turner is chock full of danger and a case of mistaken identity. Violet Hoyt is under attack, and the bad guys have the wrong person. Maverick Shawn and his K-9 human remains detection dog, Wolf, try to solve a cold case that’s tied to Violet’s secret past – a past she didn’t even know about.

I love the mistaken identity trope! This story has it all: danger, intrigue, a cold case, working dogs, long-lost twins, and romance. The characters have lots of heart and plenty of drama to keep readers flipping pages. Be sure to check out Trail of Mountain Secrets.

Escaping the Wilderness by Carrie Stuart Parks is one wild ride. Boone McGregor witnesses an attack on a woman and steps into action to save her. Little does he know that Amanda Cotton’s life is on the line. She’s being hunted, and the two go on the run while trying to unravel why someone wants Amanda dead.

I loved this story from start to finish. Escaping the Wilderness is fast-paced and witty, while still allowing readers the chance to get to know the characters. Amanda and Boone are complete opposites. They come from completely different worlds, but they realize just how great they are for each other – while trying to stay alive.

If you love high-stakes suspense, action and a determined hero and heroine, look no further than Escaping the Wilderness. I reviewed the audiobook version, and I loved the narration. It added to the excitement of the story.

Colorado Double Cross by Jennifer Pierce keeps readers dangling on the edge of suspense for the entire novel. DEA Agent Nick Anderson is undercover in a drug cartel. Much to his surprise, he runs into Alexis White, his deceased partner’s wife, as she snoops around the drug compound. He rescues her, and the pair run for their lives. Somehow the drug dealers are one step ahead of the DEA, and Nick and Alexis suspect a mole in the agency.

I love the non-stop action and suspense in this story. I’ve always been a fan of the run-for-your-life trope, but Pierce brings a depth to the characters while readers get to race along side the pair to solve a mystery. If you love romantic suspense, heart-racing action, and great mountain scenery, look no further than Colorado Double Cross.

Mountain Abduction Rescue by Darlene L. Turner is one heart-racing story. Hazel Holt teams up with her childhood crush Mitchell Booth to find her abducted son. They race through the mountains, chasing an illusive arsonist known as Firebug. Only Firebug has targeted Hazel.

This story is intense. Hazel’s son is missing and lost in the wilderness. And Firebug seems one step ahead of Hazel’s attempt to get him back. I thought that Hazel’s father was a bit too intense though. He seemed to have major anger issues – his gruffness was kind of over the top. But I do like second chance stories, and having Hazel’s high school crush be the hero of the story is sweet. Mitchell had to come to terms with the fact that Hazel wasn’t just his kid sister’s friend.

I definitely enjoyed the non-stop danger, and the mountains are full of all kinds of trouble, from animal predators to those of the human-kind.  This story packs a lot of action into a short space, and I love stories that race against the clock. If you like missing in the wilderness survival stories, this is one novel you won’t want to miss.
